Chinanews, Hanghzou, January 5 – Currently, there are more than 300 foreign kids receiving compulsory education in Hangzhou, and one can hardly tell them from local kids except the color of their skin.
A Japanese girl by the Chinese name of Tian Ying, who came to Hangzhou 3 months ago, is now able to speak fluent Chinese, and even write neat Chinese characters. She now studies in Xuejun Elementary School. “My teacher gave me several extra Chinese classes to help me survive the language challenge,”said Tian, and she is proud of the “Good” she got in her last Chinese exam.
All the foreign kids in Xuejun Elementary School are mixed with local kids. The aim of the school is to generate “international standard citizens” out of them.
