Chinanews, December 4 – For the convenience of travelers from abroad, guideboards in Beijing will be marked in at least 4 languages before 2008.

The first two languages on the guideboards are of course Chinese and English, and the rest are yet to be decided. “The choice will be based on where the most travelers will come in 2008,”said Xiong Yumei, vice director of Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration, “and they might be Japanese and Korean”.

Besides the multilingual guideboards, Beijing is also planning to equip some of its scenic spots that are popular with travelers from abroad with multilingual electronic guides.
