Chinanews, Beijing, Apr. 13 – Beijing Forestry Bureau announced on Wednesday that 200 new American white moths monitoring points will be added to the city this year. Such project will enable Beijing to set up 11 national moths monitoring points and 1,754 county monitoring points.
Tao Wanqiang, an expert from Beijing Forestry Bureau, said that a comprehensive monitoring system for the Olympic Games will be established. Environmental friendly killer machines will be put in place in the suburbs to help kill white moths.
American white moths will pose a threat to several kinds of plants. In 2003, moths were first discovered in Beijing. By 2005, 933 villages in Beijing had found the insects.
