Chinanews, Shanghai, Mar. 3 – The famous "Changing Diabetes Bus" arrived in Shanghai on March 1.
The bus started its journey some 18 months ago in Copenhagen. Its destinations include countries of all the continents, such as Denmark (its starting point and end point), Germany, Holland, France, South Africa, Australia, China, Japan, Britain, Canada, and US.
There will be six stops for the bus in China, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Jinan, Beijing and Tianjin, making up a 2,000-km journey, during which facts about diabetes will be told to the citizens and free health checks conducted.
Currently, nearly 5% of Shanghainese over 20 years old are suffering from diabetes, and another 5% might become diabetes patients soon. That is to say nearly 10% of Shanghainese have problems with their glucose metabolism. Experts believe that the unhealthy diet and bad habit of the Shanghainese should be blamed.
