Chinanews, Beijing, February 16 - “China will not worry about bird flu contagion any more, as an effective compound TCM therapy has been successfully developed, ” said Cao Hui, vice director of the National Engineering Research Center of Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He said this in Zhuhai, in an interview given to the reporter of Guangming Daily.
The new therapy is not new at all. It is based on an old patent Chinese drug, the Chuan Fang Compound Anti-Virus Electuary, which has been put in use against common flu for more than 40 years. Recently, it was confirmed to be very effective against the ferocious H5N1 bird flu by the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong.
Chuan Fang is the only certified patent Chinese drug against H5N1 by a P3 medical lab, and it is a cheaper and safer choice than the Western drugs. It can be estimated that it will greatly improve the competitiveness of TCM in the international market.
Currently, its producer has applied for the national and international PCT patent, covering all types of new drugs that might be based on Chuan Fang.
