Chinanews, Beijing, Feb. 17 - The Asia I type foot and mouth disease was recently found in a cultivation farm in Qinglin Village, Datong County, Qinghai Province, according to information from the Ministry of Agriculture.
On February 8, eight cows raised by a farmer in Qinglin Village were found ill. On February 13, the cows were diagnosed by the National Foot and Mouth Disease Laboratory as having caught the Asia I type foot and mouth disease.
After the disease broke out, the Ministry of Agriculture and Qinghai provincial government took a series of measures in order to control the spread of the disease. The measures included blocking and disinfecting the area where the disease was found, killing the sick cows and the animals that lived together with them and burying these animals properly. In addition, all the animals in the area were injected with bacterin.
At present, the disease has been brought under control and veterinary departments in Qinghai have killed 70 cows in the disease area, said the Ministry of Agriculture.
