Chinanews, Guangzhou, January 24 – Chilly and wet, Guanghzou is threatened with a possible epidemic of bird flu nowadays, especially there will be mass poultry transportation during the forthcoming Spring Festival (the Lunar New Year, which will fall on February 18). What makes the situation worse is that many neighboring countries are suffering from severe bird flu contagion.

 

Thus the local health administration is planning to keep the disease at bay, by 100% vaccination and strict monitor over poultry trade. Besides the poultry markets in the province will be carefully disinfected.

 

In fact, no cases of bird flu have been reported in Guangdong since March, 2004, and Guangzhou is confident of further success in this aspect.
