Chinanews, Beijing, January 16 – According to Beijing Municipal Center for Disease Prevention and Control (BMCDPCP), no mass-scale contagion of norovirus has been detected in Beijing, thus there is no need to be anxious.
Beijing warned the citizens to be on the alert for possible epidemic of “stomach-flu”caused by norovirus on January 13, as cases of norovirus infection in Guangdong Province had been reported.
Recently, several Beijingers have been found to be infected with norovirus; however, BMCDPCP claims that there is no sign of these patients having got the disease through person-to-person infection.
Even there is mass contagion of norovirus, the stomach-flu and gastroenteritis caused by it are usually far from fatal, and most patients can get well spontaneously within five days.
BMCDPCP calls for the public's attention to food hygiene to prevent mass contagion in Beijing.
