By March 12, some 105 countries and 15 international organizations had confirmed to attend the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition. Chinanews, Beijing, Mar. 14 – Since the Chinese government successfully won the bid for hosting the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition, preparatory work for the event has moved on smoothly and such work has won the approval of international community, a person from the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition Organizing Committee said in Beijing on Tuesday.
Chinese government has attached great importance to the preparation work for the event. It has designated the work as one of the important tasks to be fulfilled during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan Period, and has appointed Vice Premier Wu Yi to take charge of the organizing work.
So far, much progress has been made in the preparation work. By March 12, some 105 countries and 15 international organizations had confirmed to attend the event. In the next stage, China will try to invite more international organizations, and countries that have no diplomatic ties with China to attend the World Expo’, said Wang Jinzhen, a member of the Shanghai World Expo’ Organizing Committee and deputy chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
