Chinanews, Beijing, March 22 - China will strictly restrict taking liquid in hand-luggage in flights from May 1, 2007. CAAC claims that this new rule is based on the latest safety regulations of International Civil Aviation Organization.
From May 1, all the passengers of civil flights in China can only take no more than 1 liter of liquid in their hand-luggage, and the rest liquid must be contained in the checked luggage. Besides, the containers of the liquid in hand-luggage must be open for examination before boarding.
However, the limitation on passengers of international flights that start from China will be stricter. Though they are allowed to take up to 1 liter in the hand-luggage, the liquid must be packed separately in small containers of no bigger than 100 ml, and all the containers must be put in a transparent plastic bag that can be re-sealed after checking. Even those who take only transit flights in China will have to pack the liquid in their hand-luggage as mentioned above, and they have to get their purchasing vouchers of the liquid ready for check-up.
The above rule does not cover alcohol, as it is prohibited to carry alcohol in hand-luggage in flights in China.
