Wu Yingying Chinanews, Beijing, Dec. 10 – Wu Yingying, a fourth year student from the School of Psychology of Beijing Normal University, has been invited by the well-known software company TopCoder to be its Executive Vice President and Asian region CEO.
The information was announced by Beijing Normal University on Thursday (Dec. 7). And the 21-year-old girl from Chengdu thus becomes the youngest vice president in China's multinational up to now.
Wu is famous in the campus. Since entering primary school, she has achieved more than 100 inventions, 3 of which have gained national patent. In the 29th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, she won the silver medal in the finals of the Asian region. And last year, as a representative of China, she attended the conferences of Model United Nations in Harvard University in the U.S.
With so many inventions, Wu grabbed the 3rd China Adolescents Sci&Tech Innovation Award, which was established in 2004 by the relatives of late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping according to his last wishes with his contribution of all 1.42 million yuan from his writings remuneration.
How could a student majoring in psychology gain so many achievements in science and technology? Wu said that a free family environment has made her always hold strong curiosity about everything. When she entered Beijing Normal University, she was enrolled by the Science Experimental Class and got strong support from the university for her scientific research.
