"Learning to sew needs to be patient. Such activity can also relax me. When I finally turn out something by my hands, I feel I'm really successful." Chinanews, Shanghai, Oct. 21 – According to Xinmin Evening News, white collars in Shanghai enjoy learning sewing skills. In the Fashion Sewing Club on Damu Bridge Road, several young women are sitting before sewing machines, totally engrossed in their work. They usually need three hours to make an exquisite pouch.
College students also come to learn the skill in this club. From this semester, a course named "sewing skill" will be taught in the club by teachers from Shanghai University. In this unordinary classroom, students are fascinated by all kinds of its exhibits, like colorful cloth painting, fabric toys and other craftworks, which are all made by sewing machines.
Ding Guoxuan, a freshman majoring in design, had never seen a sewing machine before. But the craftworks he made are so wonderful as to be totally comparable to those made by girls.
"I never imagine learning to sew is so simple and interesting. I like this course," he said.
Student Guo Shunkai also enjoys learning to sew. "I do everything patiently, and I do believe I can learn this skill well," he said.
An assistant from the club reveals that their customers are mainly white collars, who often want to have ornamental things like cell phone pouches made for them. Even some ageing women visit their club, hoping to relieve the happiness of the bygone days when they worked away at their sewing machines.
A white collar trainee says, "Learning to sew needs to be patient. Such activity can also relax me. When I finally turn out something by my hands, I feel I'm really successful."
