Hong Kong media recently revealed Taiwan pop diva A Mei has broken off relations with her agent, a company owned by her ex-boyfriend Samuel Chow.

　　A Mei's decision has been attributed to her growing indpendence, the result of broadening her horizons while studying in Boston, and touring Sudan in the early half of 2005. Her contract was originally supposed to end next year.

　　Early on in her entertainment career, A Mei's first signed up with agent Cheung Siu-yin (张小燕), although she later broke this off to join Chow’s company after the couple fell in love. Public doubts over the stability of their relationship were ended in dramatic fashion two years ago, following Chow’s admission of an affair with a model.

　　A Mei's separation from the company cost her 50 million new Taiwan dollars (US$1.56 million), according to Hong Kong media.
