Chinese director Zhang Yimou's new film "Riding Alone for A Thousand Li" is applying to participate in this year's Venice Film Festival in September.

　　The film has passed the examination by China's media watchdog and will premiere in December.

　　The screening day does not meet the requirement to compete in this year's Oscar for Best Foreign Film.

　　Zhang began to shoot this film in last November in famous southern town Li Jiang,Yunnan Province.
