Feb. 15 - China will not apply to designate Chinese New Year an intangible world cultural heritage, an official from the Ministry of Culture was quoted by the CRI as saying.

The Vice Culture Minister, Zhou Heping, revealed on Tuesday that the country's first batch of the intangible cultural heritage name list will be published on June's "Culture Heritage Day."

Zhou said China has set up criteria for the selection of intangible cultural heritages that also stipulates the rights and commitments born by heritage holders.

He added China will build protection zones in regions where abundant intangible cultural heritages are located.

China also plans to collect lost intangible cultural heritages to avert overseas smuggling and establish digital museums and databases on the Internet.
