The 106-m statues of Emperors Yan and Huang, who are considered as the forefathers of the Chinese, were completed by the end of 2006.   Chinanews, Zhengzhou, January 29 – The 106-m statues of Emperors Yan and Huang, who are considered as the forefathers of the Chinese, were completed by the end of 2006 in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, and an inauguration ceremony will be held on April 18, 2007.

 

A square and an altar were also built next to the statues to make a complete monument to the two emperors. The square covers some 150 thousand sq m, and reaches to the bank of the Yellow River. The altar is 12 meters tall, and spreads to 8,649 sq m. Various cultural activities including rites and folk culture festivals will be held on the square after the inauguration ceremony, the first being Chinese Cultural Forum.

 

National Yellow River Geological Museum will also be built in Zhengzhou before the end of 2007.
