Chinanews, Beijing, December 13 – The Beijing Municipal committee of the Communist Youth League of China and the Beijing Students Federation jointly released a“Report on Beijing College Students Development ”on December 11, which indicates that nearly 23.66% of undergraduates in the city have fallen victim to depression (statistics ending last September).
Academic pressures, psychological instability, unharmonious interpersonal relationships, emotional difficulties, insufficient sex education and weak psychological bearing capacity should be blamed for the high incidence of depression among them. Job hunting is another important source of pressures upon. Statistics reveal that 35% of undergraduates' pressures are from job hunting and study.
Today's undergraduates are more absorbed in their self-fulfillment than social responsibility fulfillment. Only 3.04% of them wish to sacrifice their interest to meet the needs of the country.
