U.S. golfer Tiger Woods takes a shot on the fourth fairway during the third day of the Champions golf tournament in Shanghai, November 11, 2006.   Nov. 12 - South African Retief Goosen took the third-round lead at the five-million-dollar HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai as heavy winds buffeted Tiger Woods and many others in the field.

Goosen, a two-time US Open champion, managed a three-under 69 to sit at 12-under going into the final day, one shot clear of South Korea's Yang Yong-Eun and two ahead of India's Jyoti Randhawa.

Scotland's Marc Warren goes into the final round in outright fourth at nine-under following a two-under 70.

World number one Woods followed his course record-equaling 64 on Friday in perfect conditions with a 73 to lie in equal fifth position with England's Paul Casey and Italy's Franceso Molinari at seven under.

Woods finished the day in a foul mood following bogeys on the final two holes. An errant drive on the par-five 18th that found water was typical of his erratic day, in which he consistently struggled off the tee.

Goosen, ranked sixth in the world, said he was delighted to have managed a three-under par considering the nasty weather conditions, with a howling wind ensuring a miserable day for many in the field.

"It wasn't easy out there today. Into the wind the ball just went nowhere," Goosen said.

"I would have thought one-under would have been a good round but to shoot three-under ... I'm very, very happy."

New Zealand's Michael Campbell, who went into the third round just two shots off the lead, was one of the highest-profile casualties of Saturday's tough conditions.

The 2005 US Open champion shot a 77 that included 10 bogeys, with consecutive birdies on the final three holes saving him from an even greater disaster.

The HSBC Champions tournament is the richest golf event in Asia and has attracted 10 of the world's top 20 players.

It marks the official start of the 2007 European tour, and is co-sanctioned with the Asian, Australasian and South African tours.
