Recently Premier Wen Jiabao quoted this ancient motto “One prospers in worries and hardships and perishes in ease and comfort.” in his first press conference. He told us that we should continue to work hard and make greater progress even our previous generation has laid down a good foundation for us.
Why did Premier Wen quote this saying? Obviously, the saying has a deep implication. It reveals a truth that only fighting with difficulties and worrying about the future can human beings survive in Nature which is full of competition.
There are many examples to embody the motto, but here is my real experience, or rather, my lesson. In the first year of college life, I thought I should have a good rest and enjoy ease and comfort after hard working in high school. Therefore, I played computer games, watched video films, and spent a lot of time chatting in E-clubs. Several months passed and I realized that I had already lagged behind my classmates.
