in the way（挡路；妨碍）：Her social life got in the way of her studies（她的社会活动妨碍了她的学习。） 
Let’s wait a few moments. He’s on the way.（咱们等一会儿，他正在路上。[快到了]） 
In this way 是个语气词，即"附带说一句"之意。如：By the way, has everybody arrived？（附带问一句，大家是否都到了？） 
In a way,是"某个方面"，"在某种意义上"。如In a way，he was right.（在某个意义上说，他是对的。）
