　　关于where与somewhere
　　《新编大学英语·活页》第1册，41面第1大题，第 8小题为这么一句话：
　　I’d like to live somewherethe sunshines all year long．题目的答案是where。 
然而问题是，这是一个错句。你知道其错误原因吗？
　　
　　where兼有多种词性。在“Where are you going？与“Where do you come from？这两个句子中，
　　where分别充当副词和代词。有时，其词性变化并不影响句子的正误。比如，中国学生常用Where are you going？ where作副词。而很多英美人却习惯说Where are you going to？ where为代词。
　　
　　由some和where构成的somewhere具有双重词性：副词或代词。例如：
　　He lost it somewhere between here and the station．
　　I’ll think of somewhere to stay．
　　
　　somewhere进行修饰时，只有在它充当代词作先行词时才可行如：
　　I know somewhere（where）you can eat Japanese food．
　　本文开头提到的句子中，somewhere同时兼有两种词性。在句子的前半部分I’d like to live
　　somewhere．．．，是副词（注意：副词是不能用定语从句来修饰的）；而在句子的后半部分．．．somewhere where the sun shines all year long当中，somewhere则摇身一变，成为代词。因此，原句宜改为：
　　I’d like to visit somewhere where the sun shines all year long．
　　或：
　　I’d like to live in the place where the sun shines all year long．
