Love is like the wild rose-briar;

The holly is dark when the rose-briar blooms*,

*The wild rose-briar is sweet in spring,

*爱情像野玫瑰，友情像冬青。

*野玫瑰在春天和夏天开花，花香四溢。

*冬青在平时不很惹眼，甚至遭人唾弃，但当冬天来临，万物皆枯萎的时候，
花园里的它还充满生机和活力。
表示友情平时可能不为人所重视或注意，但在人们遇到困难，没有其他出路
的时候，它可能成为你的希望所在。
