Chinanews, Beijing, April 18 - According to a report by the International Herald Leader, most Taiwan businesspeople in the Chinese mainland enjoy both successful career and happy family life. The report is based on the statistics of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China, saying that the Chinese mainland has absorbed some $43.89 billion of investment from Taiwan businesspeople in the last 20 years, and the total trade volume between the two sides has reached $603.6 billion.

 

Currently, in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta alone, there are more than 500 thousand permanent Taiwanese residents.

 

Quite a large number of Taiwanese in the mainland have earned their happy life today through hard work. Lin, 48 years old, is one of them.

 

Lin came to the mainland for the first time in 1986, when he started his business by importing some herbs from Heilongjiang to Taiwan to make a special drink called Lao Hu Ya Zi, which instantly proved a great hit, and had remained the favorite brand of Taiwan media for 7 years since then.

 

In 1992, Lin met a Shanghainese girl, and they got married in 1993, when Lin became a permanent resident in Shanghai.

 

With the support of some friends who did fruit business in Taiwan, Lin founded a fruit company. Today, Lin's company has become the biggest Taiwan Fruit supplier in Shanghai.

 

Ye, who started his business at a dumpling stall in Taiwan, now owns one of the biggest frozen food companies in China. "My home is where my business is," said Ye proudly. Actually, he has spent Spring Festival holidays for several years in Shanghai.

 

It is nearly impossible to know how many Taiwan businesspeople have come to China to start a brand-new business, but surely there will be more of them in the future.
