Chinanews, Beijing, Apr. 4 – Information from the Shanghai and Shenzhen securities markets show that although stock market index dropped slightly last Friday, total market capitalization was climbing up steadily. By last Friday, total capitalization in the two markets reached 12.8 trillion yuan, 400 billion yuan, or 3%, more than a week before, the Beijing Times reported.
It was only on January 9 this year that market capitalization just exceeded the 10-trillion-yuan mark. However, the new record existed for only less than three months before total capitalization hit a new high of 12.8 trillion yuan, swelling by nearly 1 trillion yuan per month.
The market capitalization in the Shanghai Stock Exchange has touched almost 10 trillion yuan now, making it one of the most important stock exchanges in the world, said Zhu Congjiu, general manager of the Shanghai Stock Exchange while attending the China Corporate Management Policy Forum held on the weekend.
