Chinanews, Mar. 24 – China’s foreign trade policy will witness some fundamental changes this year. One of them is that China will try to increase its import to offset the huge trade surplus, said Ma She, vice director of the Ministry of Commerce European Deparment.
He made the statement Thursday in Tianjin while attending a seminar that aims at promoting investment between Tianjin Binhai New Area and European countries.
He hoped that European countries could expand their market in China and increase their export to China.
European countries have developed economies and they promote free trade. Many European countries attached great importance to promoting trade ties and cooperation with China. Chinese economy and European economy were complementary to each other, said Ma.
Tianjin Binhai New Area has been included in China’s eleventh five-year development program, which has aroused universal attention among European countries. Through this investment promotion seminar, it is hoped that the two sides can promote mutual their understanding about each other and set up a two-way communication system so as to expand their market together, Ma stressed.
The investment promotion seminar was organized by the Ministry of Commerce. A European delegation made up of commercial counselors and representatives working in the chambers of commerce in China from Denmark, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, arrived in Tianjin on Thursday to attend the seminar.
