Chinanews, Shanghai, March 13 – China had become the top IC market by 2006, surpassing Japan and the US.

 

This information was released by Yu Zhongyu, the director of China Semiconductor Industry Association, at the IC Market Conference 2007.

 

The Chinese semiconductor market scale broke 580 billion yuan in 2006, and IC industry took most of its share, as it generated a sales value of 486.2 billion yuan (a 27.8% growth) and netted a profit of 100.63 billion yuan (a 43.3% growth).

 

In the early 1990s, the Chinese IC market scale was no more than 1 billion yuan, and in less than 10 years, it managed to grow to a 10-billion-yuan scale by 2000. However, it only took another 6 years to add another digit to its market scale.

 

According to the estimation of CCID Consulting, the profit of Chinese IC industry in the next 5 years will keep on growing by 27.7% every year. By 2011, the Chinese IC industry will net a profit of 341.5 billion yuan, and China will become an important IC industry center.
