The company’s business performance in China could be described as outstanding. Last year, the company’s sales and export volume exceeded 10 billion euros. The net sales volume reached 5.3 billion euros, increasing by 39% from 2005, while export volume was 4.8 billon euros, increasing by 67% from 2005. Over the past seven years, Nokia’s total export volume in China exceeded 18.2 billion euros.
“In 2006, Nokia sold 51 million mobile phones in China, and its market shares in China reached 25%,” said Mr. Colin Giles, Nokia China’s manager in charge of account and market operation, who attributed the company’s business expansion to its large market network, new products and the infiltration to rural areas.
He predicted that in 2007, China’s mobile phone market would grow by a double-digit rate, with more growth expected to occur in rural areas. 60% of the market will be prompted by people changing their mobile phones, and by 2010, the figure will further grow to 80%, said Mr. Giles.
