Chinanews, Urumqi, February 1 – Furniture made in China has taken nearly 50% of the market in Central Asian Countries, and Chinese furniture makers are confident in taking more market share there.

 

Central Asian countries like Kazakhstan and Tajikistan started to open their markets in the 1990s, and their economy has been recovering very fast ever since. The boom in the local building industry has brought great demand for furniture in Central Asian countries; however, as local furniture makers can not meet the domestic needs, their Chinese counterparts have grasped the good opportunity, particularly those in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, for they share similar folk customs of Central Asian countries.

 

At present, Central Asian countries are the second biggest market for furniture makers in Urumqi, next to the US. Actually, 89% of furniture makers there treat Central Asian countries as their most important clients.

 

Many international brands want to take a share, too. Some of them have already started their subbranches in Xinjiang, along the borderline, where they can make the most of the wood from Russia, and the geographic advantages of the region.
