Chinanews, Guangzhou, January 30 – About 20% of fruits in the world are produced in China, but only 2.4% of them are exported every year. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine recently published new regulations on the inspection and quarantine of exported fruits, which will become effective as of February 1, 2007.
The new regulations focus on the registration of the origin of fruits to be exported. It is believed that they will guide the Chinese fruit industry, and will ensure the quality of fruits from China.
