Chinanews, Hong Kong, January 9 – It is estimated that the Pearl River Delta will enter moderately developed society within 4 years if it keeps its current pace of economic development.
There are some 1.5 million middle-class families in the Pearl River Delta, taking up a larger proportion in the total population than the middle class in Beijing or Shanghai.
The middle class in the area has been increasing at the annual rate of 11.51% in the last 20 years, and they will cover 50% of the population in the delta before 2010, when it will become a real moderately developed society in real terms.
