Chinanews, Changchun, Jan. 10 – The ongoing construction of the North America Industrial Zone in Changchun, invested by a Canadian company, has already caught the attention of many international companies. So far, six large international companies including Bombardier Inc. and Esso, have signed agreements on settlement in the zone to develop their high-tech projects in future.
The North America Industrial Zone is located inside the Changchun High-tech Industrial and Development Zone. With an investment of 300 million yuan, it will cover a total area of 250,000 square meters.
Its investor, the Canadian company, has invested in several windpower projects in south China. After the North America Industrial Zone finishes construction, the company will move all its manufacturing bases into the zone.
Bombardier Inc., the world's largest civil aircraft maker, has also signed an agreement with the industrial zone recently. With an investment of 50 million US dollars, the company intends to build an aircraft spare parts production base in the zone. When put into operation, the manufacturing base's annual output value can reach 300 million US dollars.
The North America Industrial Zone wills serve as a platform to attract more international high-tech companies to settle there. The zone is expected to finish construction by the end of 2008, said Zhang Fusheng, head of the Commercial Department at the Changchun High-tech Industrial and Development Zone.
