A company offered an annual salary of 500,000 yuan (US$60,460) for a senior technician at a job fair for technicians, which was held in China Hotel in Guangzhou on Saturday.

　　An official from the company said they could offer the right person more.

　　More than 100 enterprises from the Pearl River Delta cities, including HP, Avon and Amway, gathered at the fair to recruit at least 3,000 technicians.

　　Shenzhen labor market needs about 105,000 but only has 53,000 available, meaning the city is short of 50,000 technicians, including more than 30,000 senior technicians, according to statistics released in March.

　　Some companies provide 50,000 yuan as the minimum wages and claim the best welfare to attract applicants.

　　Guangzhou Municipal Government will take a series of measures, including increasing the wages and giving certain allowance to those technicians in urgent need, to combat competition.
