The box office winner in China in 2006, The Curse of the Golden Flower, is also based on a historical legend.   Chinanews, Beijing, January 18 – Most major motion pictures in China these years are based on historical legends, but the situation will be changed in 2007, as the government announced recently that it will help young directors make more movies based on real life this year.

“Movies must reflect life, rather than a luxurious CG (computer graphics) show, or it's only a waste of money. Our aim this year is to make movies with profound cultural content and closely related to the current drive for building a harmonious society. It's time for us to think about why silver screens in China are filled with violence. Besides, I do believe that more 'emperor' movies will only make the audiences feel bored,” said someone from China State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.

Audiences can expect to see many low-cost but moving motion pictures in 2007, and it can be estimated that even low-cost movies can hit high box-office values if they meet the needs of various audiences.
