Unconcentrated mind was closely related to one's declined intellectuality. Experts think further research on this phenomenon is crucial for development of Chinese adolescents.   Chinanews, Beijing, Nov. 23 – When talking about being absent-minded, people may immediately think about being absent-minded when in class or at work, and most of them believe such phenomenon occurs only temporarily. But a news conference of 2006 Survey of Adolescents' Attention Ability held recently declared that unconcentrated mind was closely related to one's declined intellectuality. Experts think further research on this phenomenon is crucial for development of Chinese adolescents.

This is the first time that China launched such a survey, which more than 2,000 students from the 8 cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenyang, Xi'an, Chengdu, Wuhan and Guangzhou. Its result reveals that only 58.8% of respondents can be fully concentrated when attending classes, more than 60% start being absent-minded after they have attended a class for 30 minutes and 20%'s mind often wandering.

But these respondents have their own reasons for being absent-minded. More than 30% of them (especially college students) think it is because their classes are dull, 26.6% say they are easily disturbed by the outer environment, and 26.6% say it is because they are lack of sleep.
