Chinanews, Beijing, Nov. 29 – A senior official from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) revealed recently that the number of Chinese-made cartoons has been increased dramatically in these years. China made 50-thousand-minute cartoons in the last eight months, and it is estimated that the total output of cartoons in 2006 will reach 80 thousand minutes.

 

This official said that China only produced 46-thousand-minute cartoons from 1993 to 2003, while in 2005 it made 42.7-thousand-minute cartoons.

 

He pointed out that the regulation concerning cartoon shows published by the SARFT in last August would help to stimulate the cartoon output of China, for it required the national and local TV stations should show domestic cartoon programs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. everyday. Besides, local TV stations in Beijing, Shanghai and Hunan have launched new cartoon channels, which will also help to promote domestic cartoons, said the official.
