A weather satellite developed in China is being put into operation this flood season.

Starting next Wednesday, it will provide the country’s weather forecast services with high quality cloud images and data, especially for the south of the country.It's known as the "C satellite" and is part of the Fengyun II series of locally-developed satellites.
It will also improve surveillance of typhoons, rainstorms, fire and droughts.
