A white-collar female worker in Beijing has moved with her foreign husband and family to her remote hometown to set up an English Training center.
Kang Juan, who has worked as an English teacher for years, married a 26-year-old Canadian in 2003. Soon after exchanging vows, the couple took jobs at two different joint venture enterprises in the capital and enjoyed relatively high salaries.
After watching a documentary on a girl in Chongqing, which is also her hometown, who earned money by collecting litter to pay for English classes, she decided to open a school in the city for eager English learners.
Kang Juan invested all of her savings into the project and opened the American-English Training Center in Yu Dong, Chongqing Ba Nan District one month later.
Kang told reporters that she is grateful for her husband's support and jokingly said that their frequent quarrels are a great help in improving her colloquial English!
