新学期有大惊喜：我们可以在学校里打网络游戏了！

　　SOME students feel a bit worried about coming back to school. But not Liu Chao.

　　The 13-year-old boy at Shanghai Zhongshan Middle School is happy to go back to school. That is because he can play computer games there!

　　On the first school day of the year, Liu was playing the popular Counter Strike and Mario Kart games in the computer room. He also talked with friends online (在线) by QQ.

　　From 2005, during lunch time and after school, the middle school students in Shanghai can play Web games at school. They can also watch some cartoons (动画片). It is to make the students’ school lives more colourful.

　　"I love the idea!" said Liu. "Sometimes maths is too hard for me. But after playing computer games, I feel good and can do the exercises quickly."

　　Liu’s classmate Wu Fei also thinks it’s good to play computer games at school. Because in that way he won’t play too much and forget the study. "If I play too long, teachers will come and ask me to stop."

　　In the near future, Shanghai students will be able to enjoy their own Chinese computer games or cartoons. They include a car-racing (赛车) computer game called "Spanning the Rainbows". Game players act as race car drivers to go through Shanghai’s famous places.

　　And there is a cartoon about a firefighter (消防员). The story tells how he saves (拯救) others. Also, there’s another cartoon about a smart little girl. She has lots of ideas for new inventions (发明).

　　Local government says the three games and cartoons will soon be in 1,500 schools in Shanghai.

　　But not everyone can play games at school now. Some schools, like Shanghai Donggezhi Middle School, still won’t let the students play computer games at school. But they think that the games chosen for the students are good ones.
