Chinanews, Kunming, April 19 - Armed police in Lincang, Yunnan Province, started their summer campaign again drug-smuggling on April 12. By April 16, 6 cases had been cracked, with 12 suspects arrested and 3,100-plus g of drugs confiscated.
At 10:00 AM of April 12, the armed policemen found 4 suspicious pregnant women in a mini-bus running from Nansan to Fengqing during an inspection. After body search, 15 g of heroin were found in the pocket of one woman. The X-ray examination that followed revealed that there were large quantities of drugs hidden in their bodies. Eventually, about 1,100 g of heroin were taken out. In the next 3 days, armed police cracked another 5 cases in Lincang.
Lincang is located close to the Golden Triangle, one of the biggest drug source areas in the world. The special geographic position makes it the front line of the anti-drug campaign in China. Annually, about one ton of drugs have been confiscated in the past few years, some 1/8 of the national figure.
