Chinanews, Beijing, Apr. 10 – The CCTV market research company recently released a survey report concerning Chinese college students in 2006. The report shows that 42% of the college students plan to study on the postgraduate level in China while only 33% of the students want to find a job after they finish their undergraduate study. The report also shows that on average, each college student has 537 yuan as disposable income for a month and most of the time they spend in school Internet bars is used for chatting or making friends online, the Legal Evening News reported.

 

The report shows that playing online games is also one of the main activities that students pursue in their spare time, with every student spending an average of 64.5 yuan every month on this item.

 

76% of the students plan to stay in China after graduation. About 40% of them want to take the exams for postgraduate study or doctorate admission tests while about 30% of the students want to enter into the job market. In addition, 17% of the students haven’t made up their minds yet. The report says that this shows college students are more practical than before. It might also indicate their uncertainty about their future.

 

The survey was done among 100 universities and colleges in 30 cities across China. It covered nearly everything related with college students, from employment, to consumption habits, to leisure activities
