Chinanews, Beijing, Mar. 28 – It is reported that China will publicize standards for checking toxic materials in cosmetics, and all kinds of ingredients, including natural plant extractions, should be marked on the cosmetic containers.
Cosmetics production in China has increased by 15% annually. It is estimated that the total sales volume of cosmetics in China will reach 80 billion yuan in 2008. Experts also point out that some producers have added chemical ingredients banned by the government in their cosmetic products.
According to Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine (CAIQ), the new standards covers some 80 kinds of toxic materials and 15 ways to check chemical materials.
Wang Chao, expert from CAIQ, said that the China’s standards meet the international ones.
