Chinanews, Shanghai, February 27 – According to Shanghai Municipal Health Administration, the life expectancy of Shanghainese in 2006 reached 80.97 years, and the mortality rates of maternity and infant have been successfully controlled under 8.31/100,000 and 401/100,000 respectively. The health conditions of Shanghainese are as good as those who live in intermediately developed countries.
In 2006, averagely 320 thousand people went to hospital every day in Shanghai. Some 110 million emergency cases happened all through the year, 10% higher than the figure in 2005.
No contagious diseases broke out in Shanghai in 2006, particularly the most fatal ones like hepatitis, cholera and flu. No cases of snail fever and infantile paralysis were found, either.
