Chinanews, Beijing, Feb. 7 – Plying others with drinks at dinner has been a custom in China, whereas actually half of Chinese people are sick of this custom, considering it as a bad habit that should be changed, according to a survey about "How do you think about the practice of plying diners with drinks?"

 

The survey also shows 35 percent of the respondents keep a neutral attitude, while only 15 percent think it is a rather good and characteristic activity in China, which should be advocated, the People's Daily reported.

 

The saying "it cannot be a feast without wine" reflects that alcoholic drinks do play an important role in Chinese culture as a form of celebration at weddings, festivals, promotions, or housewarmings.

 

Moderate drinking is pleasant, however many people now go the extreme plying others with drain after drain. Such practice now has begun to arouse more and more disgust among the people.

 

Statistics from the Ministry of Public Security show that there are hundreds of thousands of traffic accidents caused by driving drunk every year.
