Chinanews, Shanghai, February 6 – Some hospitals in Shanghai have started a service called “fetal photo albums”, which in fact is covert fetal sex identification. Some doctors call for immediate action to put a ban on “fetal photo albums”, before it has further aggravates of sexual imbalance.

 

“The ads say that they can provide a photo of the fetus, through which it is easy to tell the sex of the baby,” said Fan Yuliang, a doctor and a deputy to the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress. Actually, an experienced doctor can tell the sex of a fetus of 4 or 5 months old very easily through B ultrasonic scanning.

 

“Illegal fetal sex identification is also a matter of the professional ethics of the doctors,”added Fan.
