Chinanews, Chongqing, Jan. 17 – A recent survey shows that an unhealthy diet structure has made more than half of children suffer from sexual precocity.
The survey was released Monday by the Short Figure Center of Chongqing Children's Hospital, a hospital affiliated to Chongqing Medical Science Institute. The result of the survey is based on monitoring the bone ages of 160 children.
According to Lei Beiyun, a professor from the hospital’s Endocrinology Section, bone age is used to measure a person’s physical development condition. After measuring the bone ages of 160 children aged between 2 and 17, Professor Lei said they had found that only 40.6% of these children’s bone ages were in accord with their physical development, and the rest of them all had sexual precocity problem.
“A girl had her menarche at the age of 8 and when she grew to 12, her physical development stopped. Some boys began to display their puberty sexual features at the age of 10,” said the professor.
He said that generally speaking, a girl will have sexual precocity problem if her sexuality begins to develop before the age of 8, while boys will encounter the same problem if their sexuality develops before the age of 10.
There are many reasons leading to sexual precocity, but mostly the problem is linked with an unhealthy diet structure. Investigation shows that children who have such problem eat a lot of meat and various kinds of tonics. Meat contains a high degree of hormone such as female hormone and growth hormone. Apart from hormone, meal diet contains a lot of antibiotics, food additives, and various kinds of maturing agents. All these will lead to sexual precocity in one way or another. In addition, things related with sex are highly publicized in society, which also attribute to children’s sexual precocity problem to some extent, said the professor.
