Many young couples are planning to have their babies in 2007.   Chinanews, Nanjing, December 27 – 2007 is the Year of the Pig in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, and also, that year belongs to “gold” according to the five-element theory. There is only one “Gold Pig”year in every 60 years, and it is believed that a person born in the “Gold Pig”year will be blessed with great fortune all through his/her life. Thus many young couples are planning to have their babies in 2007, without knowing that their good will has also boosted the economy to grow.

 

The property market is perhaps the first to benefit from the baby boom, as most young couples usually buy housings before they plan to have babies. Take Nanjing as an example, where the property market has leapt by 39.7% from last August to October. A record of selling 398 apartments in 4 days was also set in that period.

 

However, this is just the beginning. A baby usually costs its parents some 20,000 yuan during pregnancy and delivery. It can be estimated that the baby boom next year will bring an unimaginable big market. No wonder many international enterprises are planning to take a share.

 

In fact, the year of birth is not that important in one's life. Maybe it is more reasonable for parents to avoid the baby boom next year, as problems will also rise behind the joy of the “Gold Pig” year.
