Chinanews, Beijing, Dec. 28 – Chess &Cards Rooms were set up originally to meet people's entertainment demand, whereas now no chess and cards can be found in some Chess &Cards Rooms but mahjong instead with gambling always appearing between players.

 

When night falls, some Chess &Cards Rooms in Beijing, either big or small, are filled with players indulging in mahjong. Even though some people pour small stakes, they are doomed to lose or win around 1,000 yuan every night.

 

These rooms not only permit people's gambling activities, but also provide much support, as the waiters will serve as gambling partners when required.

 

Some managers of the rooms reveal that they ask the players to gamble with cashes directly when gambling in order to protect themselves from unnecessary troubles.

 

Beijing Sports Bureau officials say that although they are in charge of all Chess &Cards Rooms, still they have no right to supervise mahjong playing.
