Chinanews, Changchun, November 11 – Thanks to the well implemented animal protection system in Jinlin Province, the populations of many endangered species like tigers, leopards, bears and boars have greatly increased there. However, these animals now have begun to harm residents and their properties, arousing many complaints.
Incomplete figures show that about 50 wildanimal-harming-people-and-stockanimal cases have happened these years, and brought tens of deaths. Besides the death tolls, the crops ruined by them every year are worth tens of millions of yuan. Though there are regulations stipulating local governments’ responsibility for compensating the economic losses caused by protected animals; however, they have not been put into practice.
Jilin provincial government’s failing to give proper compensations actually will harm the public’s enthusiasm for wildlife protection.
