Chinanews，Guangzhou, October 19 – Seven members of a family in Luoding, Guangdong Province, have been attacked by nasopharyngeal darcinoma, 4 of whom have finally died of the disease.

 

Though nasopharyngeal darcinoma is a relatively common cancer in China (in fact, about 80% of the cases occur in the country), especially Guangdong, with a morbidity of 9 out of every 100 thousand in the province, it is extremely rare for so high an incidence to happen in one family.

 

All the seven victims of the disease belong the second and third generations of the family. With one being the fifth son’s wife, this incidence does not seem to be genetic only.

 

Five oncologists were sent to check the physical conditions of all the members of the family, but the reason for the epidemic of the disease will remain unknown before further analysis is done.
