Chinanews, Beijing, Sept. 26 – Song is a new graduate from Qsinghua University. He majored in computer when studying in college. Three months before graduation, he went to the United States to attend a work practice project in IBM, and he did it very well. After graduation, he was recommended by the company's personnel manager to work in IBM.

 

In recent years, going abroad for work practice emerges quietly in China's universities. Statistics show that more than 1,000 students go abroad for work practice every year and the number keeps rising.

 

Wang Xiao'ou was learning media when studying in the Anderson College in Boston. During her study, she noticed that there was a work opportunity offered for college trainees by the United Nations. She applied for it and finally went to the UN Public Information Department to work there during the summer vacation. During this period, she attended a lot of news briefings held by the UN Secretary-General spokesman, coordinated with the department head to contact reporters and released reference materials. Although she had worked there for only one month, Wang said the work experience could help her to find a good job in future.

 

The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) is a British international organization that helps college students to attend work practice projects in other countries. IAESTE's secretary-general in China Guo Hanfang said that she had organized many cases for students and found that by going abroad to attend work practice projects, many students had made much progress. They could speak English more fluently and gained much work and social experience outside. By attending these overseas projects, many students found it a lot easier to obtain a job when coming back. Some students who had given a good performance in the project could continue working in the country once they returned.
